So we headed back to Texas on Monday, June 13th, for the same reasons as before as we had been gone just about a month: See our granddaughter -Elle; see the kiddos, Lisa do some customer meetings on site and also for us to attend Danny Walsh’s Wedding, where we would also get to see all of our Austin Friends who would be attending. Oh right – don’t forget about the $10,000 tooth and Dr. Konig.
So go backwards now: Cab to Ferry / Ferry to St. Thomas (which ran late) / cab to airport for St Thomas to Orlando and Orlando to Austin.
As I am going through the TSA line, my identification is not accepted. TSA told me that I had to go back to the ticket counter and get “whatever” straightened out…they never really explained what the problem was and at this point our flight was boarding in 25 minutes. (remember the ferry was late!)
Kirk is free and easy in the Global Entry line since he had his actual card with him. My global entry card was on my iPhone and that was not acceptable, so I had to go in line with “those people” (just kidding)
Back to the ticket counter. I had to run there with my luggage in tow. The ticket agent said that my name did not match my passport or Driver’s license. Apparently, I do not know how to fill out the reservation as it was Beasley Lisa instead of Lisa Beasley. The ticket agent quickly corrected the ticket and then I had to run back to security, find the same TSA agent as before and then run to the gate.
I had told Kirk to go ahead and board as I felt that I would make it there in time and I did. AND this time, the seating arrangements were not good – at least for him. I had a nice aisle seat. (feel free to infer).
Did I mention that when we reviewed our travel options for travel from BVIs to Texas we once again landed on Spirit Airlines. (great pun again- couldn’t help it) & you may have inferred that when I said we were going through Orlando
That $125 one way just seems to make sense. Well hold on, I had to get my calculator out and do some math:
… let’s add in the extras –
Fee = Baggage (doesn’ t matter if you carry on or check)
Fee = Pick your seat so not stuck in the middle or the last seat by the bathroom
Fee = Diet Coke (with their fee, I could have had at least 4 and I was scared to ask for Ice)
Fee = Beer (let’s just say we could have bought a 6 pack)
Fee = Snack Pack designed for a toddler $12 EACH
Maybe it’s really not THAT cheap. We should never fly Spirit again – however we already bought round trip so next time certainly is the LAST Time. Landed in Houston on Monday and headed to Austin on Wednesday. If only it were that simple but let’s leave that situation alone.
