The following two weeks were some serious work weeks for me and were intense with end of quarter upon me. AND yes, I stayed very disciplined and focused during the work week (believe it or not – just ask Kirk!)

Kirk kept quite busy with maintaining the sailboat which is a bit of a thankless job. If you don’t do it – it’s quite noticeable and if you do take are of it, well it is expected to look great. So cleaning, polishing, waxing, general maintenance is on going.

Constant Sunshine -The sun can be intense and being outside quite draining – we need to remind ourselves that we are in the tropics. Hydrating Often and Lathering up in Sun Tan Lotion are two constants, as is Lightweight clothing AND, don’t forget your hat.

Clothing – Well, this became an interesting topic for us both. We realized that neither of us packed appropriately on our first outing. Like who brings two pairs of jeans (well one pair WAS white) to the tropics and 4 pairs of shoes (one having a slight heel) – OK, Lisa did! How insane – those are certainly going back to the states along with the heels. Kirk also realized that he had a lot of cool looking shirts that weren’t really “cool”. Regrouping for sure on the next trip back.

Indian Food – If you asked me prior to March 10th if I like Indian Food, that would have been an absolute “not so much”. Talk about a change of taste buds. Our new found love is Omar’s about a 3 minute walk from our dock and they have the most amazing Shrimp Currie Dish and some pretty spectacular fried calamari.

New Faces – Kirk, thank goodness, keeps a running list on his iPhone: Names and Boat Names on our D Dock. Everyone is super friendly and everyone loves to share their story and hear yours. We became friendly with a younger couple that has 3 daughters and are directly across from them on the dock. They are on a 2 year sailing excursion and are from Brussels. They have been sort of stuck in Nanny Cay since November due to losing their steering and entire steering column. Given supply chain issues and the BVIs, it created a very long wait for them to get it fixed. Simon and Sarah were our first and only friends to join us for Happy Hour on Salted Rim. What a fun and interesting time we had getting to know them and their stories. Hopeful we can stay in touch. And Sarah made us the best Coffee Cake ever. Thanks Sarah.

Trip into Road Town – Taxi’d in for Groceries and Flow. (Flow being a local broadband provider.) More on that later. Round trip – just Lisa -$30 Sort of interesting because one way to the airport (3Xs farther) was $40 for two people. As they say, “it is what it is” !

Back to Flow. I needed local broadband access for a SIM Card for when we do not have accessible WIFI. Prepay $20 for 2 GIG of data for only one week. Sounds pretty straight forward, right. In the words of Lee Corso – “not so fast”. I was told just go online and reload or top off. Well, I spent 2 hours on a chat session (on and off) but never got anyone to help me figure out the sequence. Guess another $30 trip to town so I can spend $20 will be in order. But before that happens, time to pack up for a trip back to the states and a $40 cab ride 🙂
